Andrew D Booth - Britain's Other "Fourth Man"

Abstract

Andrew Donald Booth (1918-2009) was the leader of a team of computer pioneers at Birkbeck College in the University of London, UK. Booth worked with limited resources, both human and financial, and concentrated on building smaller machines. This paper presents an outline of his career in the UK which, the author believes, has not received the attention it deserves in comparison to a number of his UK contemporaries.
